السلام عليكم....

لو سمحت حابب أسأل من أي حد عنده معلومات عن ايه سبب ان في معظم المنتديات الناس بتقول ان المعادلة البريطانية وقفت خلاص و ان معدش حد بيعملها, وانهم معدوش محتاجين دكاترة, على الرغم من ان الموقع الرسمي للمعادلة بيقول انها مازالت شغالة , هو آه صحيح بيقولوا ان الواحد لازم قبل مايبدأ فيها لازم يبحث عن فرص الشغل هناك عاملة ايه الاول و مع ذلك في دراسة عاملنها 2008على الموقع بتاعهم بتبين ان فرص الشغل اتحسنت في 2007 عن 2006 ,, السؤال هل حد من الدكاترة هنا عنده معلومات عن المعادلة البريطانية, وليه الناس بتقول عليها كدة ,, ومعلومات او لينكات عن اي حد عملهاو ومصادر المذاكرة , واي معلومات من اشخاص خاضوا التجربة ده......مع كامل شكري و تقديري واحترامي لكل الدكاترة اللي في المنتدى هنا.

I have actually done the PLAB before coming to Australia

in April 2006 they introduced new laws forcing employers to employ UK and EU Citizens first and if they want to employ someone from outside UK or EU they have to provide the department of immigration with a strong reason to do so (i.e. you had to have specific experience that none of the other applicants have) which might apply to senior (consultant) level but will never apply to junior level.

As a result people moved out of the UK (largely to Australia) and that eased off the job situation a little bit in the UK (meaning instead of 1 in 100 chance in getting a job you have 1 in 30 or 40) and it is nearly impossible for non UK/EU citizens to get a training job so they always do non trainig jobs with no career progress

so, officially it is still an open market but practically it is quite difficult to get a job and nearly impossible to get a training job unless you have UK or EU citizenship

I have worked in Wollongong hospital before

It is a big hospital, not a tertiary one but a big one (i think around 400 beds) and it serves quite a big and growing community

One of the big advantages is that there is a considerable muslim community there and a mosque

Wollongong university is quite a young but reputable university and you will definitely find a big multicultural community of students here

you might find people preparing for the amc but the number wouldn't be as large as sydney obviously (but in the end you will need 2 or 3 people for a study group anyway so you should be able to find them here)

As Ziad said you can't work in a hospital on a student visa so you will have to change it when you are accepted for the job

I will actually be working there as well towards the end of 2010 insha2allah as it is one of the hospitals in the network i work in so we can meet and i will be happy to help if you need anything

دا لينك لدكتور مصرى عمل ال plab وسافر وملاقاش شغل وراح السعوديه وبعدين شغال حاليا فى المملكه التحده بعد مشوار طويل وتعب لكن ربنا وفقه , وهو بيحكى ادق التفاصيل للمزاكره لل plab h, او MRCP بس للامانه هو نوه زى ما قال الدكتور ايهاب ان مافيش training Job

My question is:

What are her chances of registering as a paediatrician in Australia?And if not possible,can she easily get registered as a general practitioner or as a family doctor?

It looks like the australian accent is already getting to you :blink:

I would assume that the 6 years of paeds were done outside australia, in such case your wife might need to join Paeds training program here

She has to have general registration which will require her to finish the AMC first and then work for one year

Gp is the easiest specialty to do here so she can easily join a practice or a training program but she will at least need the 1st part of AMC

MRCS might improve your chances of getting a job but you still need to do the whole training here to finish the FRACS, so it doesn't make your training shorter, unless you are already a consultant in such case things might be different and you might be able to apply directly for specialist recognition but it is by no means a straight forward process

so in short the answer to your question is no, maynfa3sh tet3adel asasan

You can try recruitment agencies

google medical recruitment australia and you will come up with a number of agencies, try applying through them

they usually ask for higher requirments than 1st part of amc and IELTS but you can give it a go

also in the next month or so recruitment for next year starts which is usually the best opportunity to get a job so keep an eye on the health jobs site of every state

and just a personal opinion, applying from here and having a personal interview improves your chances of getting a job

Rotations means that you spend a term in each specialty, a term is usually aroung 3 months, so you can do 3 months in cardiology then 3 months ED and 3 months colorectal surgery, etc...

and this can be either in the same hospital or in different hospital, and a rotation in a different hospital is called secondment
